Jane and Charles have been raving about the Cobar presentations. I am sorry I wasn't there to share the wonderful progress that has been made. Well done everyone - and keep on keeping on!
As you are aware, I am heading off to the US and Canada on my study leave in a few days. I'll be sharing some of the LTLL story with educators in places like Penn State University, Boston Catholic education and Toronto Catholic education. Jerry Starratt is going to feature some of the material from LTLL2 in the last chapter of his current book - so the word is spreading.
We are hoping to be able to follow up on the Wilcannia Forbes experience with another phase of research at some stage in the future - once we have negotiated all the appropriate clearances, but in the meantime, can we ask that if you have any LTLL "product" ie updated action plans, final reports, video or even personal observations that you put them up on the Wiki? I'd love to be able to use some current video clips in presentations in North America in the next 6 weeks!
Best wishes.
Mick.
JUST LURKING!
Hi everyone! Just sitting at my desk and watching the Wiki come alive. Sounds like great things are happening today in LTLL land. Great stuff everyone!

UPCOMING EVENTS
NOTE: FORBES CLUSTER AND COBAR CLUSTER BOTH 30 MINUTE PRESENTATIONS!
The next sessions are Cobar (Final presentations) and Forbes (Mid-point presentations) .
Charles and Jane (who would be known to the Cobar group in person - and to all of you via the wiki) will be the team this time around. Brace yourselves!!
The format for both of the Cobar and Forbes workshops is similar. The idea is that each school has the opportunity to share with the whole group, and get feedback from the other schools. For those of you doing this for the first time, all we can say is that so far the other schools have not only survived, but thrived. It is great to be able to share what we are doing. The overview of the day is as follows:
1. School presentation (Cobar cluster 30 minutes/ Forbes cluster 30 minutes) from each school. 2. During each presentation participants in the audience map what they are hearing against the elements of the LTLL model, identify one affirmation and one generative question for each element. 3. Non presenting groups reach consensus on shared affirmations and questions. 4. Present affirmations and pose questions for presenting school (on butcher’s paper). No response at this point. 5. Schools consider their questions and present a response.
The presentation should cover the following issues: 1. What did we set out to do and why? 2. What did we actually do? 3. How did our plans change along the way and why? 4. What difference did our actions make: - for staff? - for students? (You need to present evidence for these claims) For Forbes only 5. Three challenges, three learnings and three questions you still have For Cobar only 5. What have you learned from the LTLL project? 6. What now? (This should address sustainability after LTLL formally concludes) Each school in the Cobar group should also have a written report which covers this material which should be loaded up onto their wikispace within a week of the seminar.
We're looking forward to hearing all the exciting news.
On the road (again)
Charles and Mick are sitting in Dubbo airport (flight delayed!!!) after their Western NSW road trip - a kind of Boys do Thelma and Louise. We managed our trip with only a glimpse of goats, no roos, and one (now deceased) red belly. It was a return to Cobar for Mick, but a first visit for Charles. The mid-point presentations - all six of them - were terrific. How have you managed to get so much done in such a short time? What really impressed Charles and I was the way in which you were all applying the concepts of LTLL to making sense of the complex realities of your schools - all with their own challenges. As we said in our closing, let no one imply that isolation and distance mean an end to educational imagination and terrific achievement. Well done, and thanks to all of you for welcoming us so warmly wherever we went.
This is the plan .... group work in Forbes.
Mick and Charles on the road (part 1)!
Well, half way there on this road trip!
Sunday night saw Mick and Charles descend on beautiful downtown Griffith before heading off to Hay on Monday morning to meet with Hillston, Deniliquin, Hay and Balranald. Keep an eye out for their final report Powerpoints which should be appearing on the Wiki soon. What fantastic insights they have had about their learning journey - and more importantly what great learning has taken place for their students! And check out Sue and Jude's wardrobe coordination....
Sister Act?
Schools from Hay and Narromine clusters should go to the survey and reflection guides section on the bottom of the left hand column where they will find their final online LTLL reflection guide. Please do this soon so you can see the progress made since your journey started.
The Forbes schools - Forbes, Trundle and Condoblin are wrapping up their first drafts of action plans as I type this. Expect to see them soon on the site. In the meantime - last night's sunset in Forbes.
Sunset in Forbes
Off to Cobar this afternoon for our mid-point tomorrow.
Watch this space.
Mary-Ellen enjoying the professional discussion in Cobar

Charles and I have started to pack for the big swing through the diocese. We are looking forward to it greatly.

Latest NEWS!!!!!Great to see our friends from Cobar and Broken Hill on board!!!!!Jane X Added August 20thThanks to all the schools who have added material recently.Just a reminder to Wilcannia Forbes newcomers about using Survey Monkey. You can complete the Reflection Guide in as many sittings as you like. Just make sure you use the same computer every time or you will be given a new instrument to complete.
Added August 14th:
So far both Narromine and Hay clusters in Wilcannia Forbes, and Warrawong and Lismore have done a fabulous job of their mid-point presentations and have had excellent feedback from their colleagues at other schools. If you have not already put your presentation on you wikispace, please do so. As first cab off the rank, Narromine are thinking ahead to their final presentation. For all of our final presentations we will follow the same format, a bit similar to the midpoint. Just keep in mind that while we are calling these "final" presentations, and they will mark the end of the formal LTLL engagement, the work you have begun will no doubt need to continue!
Each school will have 45 minutes to present. Their presentation will address the following points: 1. What did we set out to do and why? 2. What did we actually do? 3. How did our plans change along the way and why? 4. What difference did our actions make: - for staff? - for students? (You need to present evidence for these claims) 5. What have we learned? 6. Congratulations to those schools who have been so active in sharing in the wiki space. There is a tremendous repository of resources, ideas and feedback there. It makes for very exciting reading! Mick June 24
TWO NEW links have been added to the LINKS and RESOURCES page-Let me know what you think!!! 21/5/10 Jane
It would be brilliant if other people could post useful links here toooo!!!!
Dear fellow LTLL WIKI members,
It is great to see some individuals beginning to contribute to the schools pages. Your contributions are great inspiration to others! Please encourage all the members of your staff to get involved...share stories and resources.... ask and answer questions etc. Also we encourage you to contribute to other school pages if you have ideas or resources that support their project or you want to ask questions etc. In order for this to work each school really needs to post a clear description of their project/action planetc by way of setting a context for all readers.Looking forward to seeing lots more from all of you! You will notice that many of the posts have names and date attached this is helpful for us all so would be good if all contributors could follow this pattern...Makes it much more personal!! Jane 28/4/10 Hi LTLL Friends Have you noticed that there has been a lot of activity on the site of late and some great information posted about projects and ongoing endeavours! Why not take some time to navigate the site and see what's here now! Some highlights on the school pages are:

Hay-Melissa has put up the St Mary's Action Plan and she would welcome feedback and ideas from others
Hillston claims to be the small team with amazing capabilities!!!!! They are certainly living up to this expectation! Jude and Matthew have been busy on their technology focus and a new approach to the use of staff meeting time. Find out more by reading their weekly reflections on the school page.
Narromine -Jan has posted a very comprehensive Quality Teaching Doc from St Augustine's-they are looking at integrating LTLL into their quality teaching work.
Parkes have posted their Literacy focus-go in and have a look at what they are up to!
